Joel Valentine
Joel Valentine, CPA, CVA, CM&AA, CGMA, is the President and CEO at Wessel & Company. Joel’s service areas are centered on audit and tax, business valuations, and mergers & acquisitions. He services non-profit, government and the private sector industries.
Professional Background
Joel began his professional career with Wessel & Company in 2003 and initially focused on government and non-profit audit clients. As client needs within the firm grew, Joel’s knowledge base expanded into serving private sector clients. Mr. Valentine became involved in the transition of multiple private sector businesses to the next generation, resulting in him obtaining the Certified Merger and Acquisition Advisor qualification. His passion for this type of work continued to grow, resulting in an additional certification and knowledge base by becoming one of the firm’s experts in performing business valuations and consulting. In 2017, Mr. Valentine was named President of Wessel & Company. In addition to continuing to serve client needs across many disciplines, Joel participates in many aspects of the firm operations including Human Resources, Business Development and Technology.
Education and Associations
Mr. Valentine graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (Summa Cum Laude) with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. His associations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Alliance of Merger and Acquisition Advisors, the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
Personal Background
Joel was voted a Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants Under 40 members to watch, a Pennsylvania Business Central Top 100 People, and Pennsylvania Business Central Foremost Under 40. He is a Board Member for the Sunnehanna Country Club, a member of the Community Foundation’s Investments Committee and the Chamber of Commerce Governmental Action Committee. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, spending time with family and friends and coaching his three sons’ youth sports teams.
