Barry Gilchrist

Barry Gilchrist, CPA, MSTX, PFP, is a Shareholder Emeritus at Wessel & Company with 42 years of service with the firm. He supports the firm in many areas including individual and corporate taxes, tax planning, mergers and acquisitions and succession planning. He services wholesale, construction, manufacturing and medical practice industries.

Professional Background

Prior to joining the firm, Barry worked for a local, family-owned bakery for 10 years. That employment financed both of his undergraduate degrees.

Education and Associations

Mr. Gilchrist graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from St. Francis University and received his Masters Degree from Robert Morris University in Taxation. His associations include  the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). He is on the board of directors for the United Way of the Laurel Highlands Endowment Committee and is a chairman of the Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment Committee.

Personal Background

Barry enjoys golf, traveling with his wife Julie to visit his daughter Amanda in Pittsburgh.
