Quality Control Officer/Shareholder
Stephanie Stohon, CPA, CBM, CFE, CFF, MAFF, is the Quality Control Officer and Shareholder at Wessel & Company with over 27 years of experience at the firm. Stephanie supports the firm with her work in nonprofit and governmental auditing, consulting, internal control analysis and fraud prevention check-ups. Her expertise extends to various industries including school districts, state and local governments and nonprofits.
As a Certified Fraud Examiner, Stephanie is knowledgeable in fraudulent transactions, criminology and ethics, legal elements of fraud, and fraud investigation. She has helped in identifying and reducing opportunities for fraud and has also assisted in the recovery of fraud losses. She has worked on over 75 cases with fraud losses totaling over $13 million.
Education and Associations
Ms. Stohon graduated from The University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Accounting. Her associations include PICPA, AICPA, CFF, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Forensic CPA Society and the Association of Certified Fraud Specialists.
Stephanie was a 2018 recipient of the PICPA’s Women to Watch Award. She currently serves as a board or committee member for The United Way Women’s Leadership Council, Humane Society of Cambria County, Cambria County Elder Abuse Task Force, and Rotary Club of Johnstown. She has also served as past board member for the Cambria County Child Advocacy Center, the Learning Lamp, and the United Way of the Laurel Highlands.
